Frequently Asked Questions
What counts as an eye emergency?
Signs of an emergency include sudden vision loss, severe eye pain, chemical splashes, foreign objects in the eye, eye bleeding, or a deep cut around the eye. If you experience any of these symptoms, seek care immediately to prevent permanent damage.
Can I walk in for emergency eye care, or do I need an appointment?
You do not need an appointment for emergencies. Our clinic accepts walk-ins Monday–Saturday, 10 a.m.–6 p.m. If you’re unsure whether your issue is urgent, call 040 2763 1010 and we can advise you.
How long will I wait before being seen?
We triage all patients on arrival, so genuine emergencies—like chemical burns or sudden vision changes—are seen immediately or within minutes. Other urgent cases (e.g., minor cuts or mild foreign-body removal) may wait up to 30 minutes, depending on caseload. Calling ahead can sometimes help us prepare for your arrival.
What should I do if I injure my eye before coming to the clinic?
If you have a chemical splash, start flushing your eye with clean water or saline for at least 15 minutes before coming in. For a foreign object, avoid rubbing your eye—blink gently or rinse with water. If there’s severe pain or bleeding, cover the eye lightly with a clean cloth and get to the clinic as quickly as possible.
What should I bring to my emergency visit?
Bring any previous eye reports, a list of current medications, and the container or label of any chemical involved (for burns). If you wear contact lenses, bring your lenses and lens case. Having this information helps us diagnose and treat you faster.
